BEST SKYDIVE MOMENT:

One of his most memorable jumps was landing on the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier while a member of the Firestone team.

Danny Smith is the Chief Executive Officer and Owner of Skydive Carolina! Danny's valuable 28 year background in banking as a Vice President & Trust Officer for First Union (now Wachovia) was a great asset when Danny decided to put his love of skydiving into a business that he could share with the general public. Danny started the business in July 1986 at the Chester County Airport and operated it part time until 1996. In 1996, he decided to take an early retirement from his banking career and turned the business into a full time operation.

Danny's first skydive was in 1966 while serving in the U.S. Air Force in Louisiana. Since then he has made over 2,200 jumps with over 800 of those jumps being demonstration jumps. Danny was the team leader of the Firestone Parachute Team performing weekly at the Carowinds Amusement Park for six years. He also competed in the Carolina Parachute Council in style, accuracy, team accuracy, and 4-way relative work for several years. One of his most memorable jumps was landing on the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier while a member of the Firestone team. Danny Smith's USPA ratings/licenses include D-3506, GW-987, Instructor, Pro, and a Safety & Training Advisor. He is also an FAA licensed pilot and parachute rigger. Danny's vast array of experience provides a broad and diverse understanding of the sport along, with excellent radio control skills as he "lands" AFF students learning the basic parachuting skills.

Danny is an all around athlete which becomes more apparent the longer you spend time at the Skydive Carolina! drop zone. His expert golf cart handling skill (used to race around to pick up tandem students) was learned on the golf course. Danny is an avid golfer with tremendous potential. You might occasionally see him practice his golf swing at Skydive Carolina! or watch his golf pro instructor try his hand at skydiving. Danny also finds great enjoyment in basketball and has two goals at Skydive Carolina! that he willingly shares with his clients and visitors. If you think that Danny only likes the thrill of the skydive, you will have to ask him about snow skiing, as the rush of racing down the slopes is another favorite hobby. I think that you will find most skydivers enjoy many sport activities and love the strength that they gain both mentally and physically, as they take advantage of life's opportunities.

Danny's goal for Skydive Carolina! is to continue to watch it grow. It is now the largest center is South Carolina and one of the premier skydiving centers in America. Danny has created Skydive Carolina! to support Tandem and AFF students in addition to RW flyers and Free Flyers who are active in this year around sport. In addition, Danny has assembled a professional staff that will assist him in meeting all of the customer's expectations both now and in the future, and looks forward to your visit to Skydive Carolina!
